The above video is a demonstration of my progression to stabilize the hip and lumbar spine after restoring Sidegliding in Standing. Many times, repeated SGIS does not need additional "strengthening" or "stabilization" exercises. However, if the patient is not able to get back to ADLs, or more importantly athletic activity, they may unload the involved side, especially with repeated steps, lunges, running, squats, etc.
Eval - look for loss of SGIS on the involved side (LQ CPP review here)
Reset - repeated SGIS - if needed may need to perform (on the ipsilateral side)
- pain free psoas
- positional inhibition of QL
- positional inhibition of unilateral lumbar spine + mobilization
Stabilize - sideplank and superclam progression to kettlebell lunges and unilateral carries
